This guitar strap is made with a unique cowhide leather that has a "pull-up" effect on the darker blue, so any where it's been bent, has wrinkles, or stitched appear a lighter shade of blue. Kind of like a good pair of denims broken in...
But on its own, it's not able to work as a guitar strap, so I've layered it over a thicker and supple teal cowhide for both the main strap and the adjustment strap. This makes for a thick, but surprisingly soft and supple strap--the teal is soft and acts like a padding against your shoulder for the firmer denim top layer.
The leathers are glued together and edge stitched around the strap perimeter, but for an extra detail, continuous stitching weaves around each adjustment slot. And like all my layered leathers, I also stitch around the peg holes.
The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 42" long.
Eleven adjustment slots are cut about every 1" apart, and the 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar.
I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", so the overall length can be adjusted from about 48" to 60" between the peg holes. But since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length or spacing to get the fit that works for you. This leather is just about 1/6" thick, and will settle in with use, like all good leather does, but is still firm enough that it will not stretch out of shape with use!
The holes for the pegs are punched at 5/16" for the main strap (front) and 3/8" for the adjustment strap (back), and a small slit ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears in the leather, and makes the strap easy to install & remove. These holes fit most pegs and remain securely in place when fitted in place.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into and damage your instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide "laces" cut from the same leather if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
This listing is for the strap you will receive.
