This is a deceptively very simple dark khaki brown colored cowhide leather guitar strap but is decorated with cowboy gun belt inspired pattern (watch Steve McQueen's Vin Tanner in "The Magnificent Seven") that has 5 rows of stitching--outer to inner, 2 rows light green, two rows blue, and one row light green (yes, colors of most current Seattle sports teams...). I have matched the bobbin thread to the color of the flesh side of the leather, though there are a few rows with a lighter brown color due to running out of the dark brown.

The stitching starts about 2.5" above the front peg hole, and ends about 1/2" before first slot. The ovals are about 4.5" and the diamond connectors about 1.5", and tapers down to match the strap front end. The pictures are with indirect daylight, but appears bit darker in images showing more of the strap--I did not do any color adjustments with the photos).

The pattern is traced to set the outer most stitching, and then each inner row is applied. The stitching is all done on my industrial machine, but hand controlled--there is no computer controlling the movement of the leather, and the spacing of the rows and the shape is solely the result of eye-hand coordination, and thus none is exactly the same as the other. (And this is how high end cowboy boot manufacturers do their boot stitching, too).

The 6oz thick top grain oil tanned cowhide has a slightly buffed finish, which does not reflect light, but the grain and surface imperfections are left intact, so the inherent nature of leather is not rubbed off or covered over by the tannery. And as an oil tanned cowhide, gentle buffing can remove any surface scuff. And as nature of many leathers, areas that are continually rubbed will get smoother and darken with hand oils if handled often.

This a through dyed leather, so the edges are a consistent shade with the surface and flesh underside. This leather is tough, but will shows its life--and will wear well. But it is very strong, yet supple, and will hold acoustic, electric, and even bass guitars well.

The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 39" long. I have softened the cut edges with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.

Eleven adjustment slots are cut about every 1", and the 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar.

I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", with about 18" to the peg hole, so the overall length can be adjusted from 46.5" to 56.5" between the peg holes (bit shorter than my standard length).

But since I cut these myself, I can make this a bit shorter, or provide a longer adjustment strap for extra length--or completely start on a new custom order. Or you can add more peg holes in this back strap for finer adjustment as you wear it in.

The holes for the front peg is punched at 5/16", and rear tab is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. If you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know.

This is also laser etched a few inches above the front peg hole and on the adjustment strap with my new brand, Acoustic Needle, logo.

The design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.

I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.

If you have any questions, or idea for different colors, please convo me!
