This is a deceptively very simple dark khaki brown colored cowhide leather guitar strap, but is decorated with cowboy boot inspired scrolls that each has 5 rows of stitching--outer to inner the thread colors are: turquoise, teal, gold, pale green, and turquoise. I have matched the bobbin thread to the color of the flesh side of the leather, though there are a few rows with a lighter brown color due to running out of the dark brown.

The three scroll shapes are the same size & orientation, with the first scroll is just over 6" above the front peg hole, and each scroll is 7.5" high, and the third scroll ends just about 2" above the top slot, to maximize how much of the scrolls are seen wearing the strap.

The color order is the same in each. The pattern is traced to set the outer most stitching, and then each inner row is applied. The stitching is all done on my industrial machine, but hand controlled--there is no computer controlling the movement of the leather, and the spacing of the rows and the shape is solely the result of eye-hand coordination, and thus none is exactly the same as the other. (And this is how high end cowboy boot manufacturers do their boot stitching, too).

The 6oz thick top grain oil tanned cowhide has a slightly buffed finish, which does not reflect light, but the grain and surface imperfections are left intact, so the inherent nature of leather is not rubbed off or covered over by the tannery. And as an oil tanned cowhide, gentle buffing can remove any surface scuff. And as nature of many leathers, areas that are continually rubbed will get smoother and darken with hand oils if handled often.

This a through dyed leather, so the edges are a consistent shade with the surface and flesh underside. This leather is tough, but will shows its life--and will wear well. But it is very strong, yet supple, and will hold acoustic, electric, and even bass guitars well.

The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 42" long. I have softened the cut edges with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.

Eleven adjustment slots are cut about every 1", and the 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar.

I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", with about 18" to the peg hole, so the overall length can be adjusted from about 48" to 58" between the peg holes. But since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length or spacing to get the fit that works for you. Or you can add more peg holes in this back strap for finer adjustment as you wear it in.

The holes for the front peg is punched at 5/16", and rear tab is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. If you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know.

This is also laser etched a few inches above the front peg hole and on the adjustment strap with my new brand, Acoustic Needle, logo.

The design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.

I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
