This strap is made from a wonderful bison leather that has a more wrinkled texture than the black cowhide I use for "simply black" (compared in photo #10), but isn't pebbled like the "distressed brown bison".
PLEASE NOTE: I am STILL trying to restock this leather--my supplier is trying to find a new tannery that can replicate this leather, as the original closed down last year...
It is VERY supple, but bison is inherently stronger than cowhide. It is oil tanned and has a very slight "pull up" finish, which means it will comparatively lighten for a time where it's been stressed, adding additional character to its varied hues and texture, and the edge and underside is soft split suede. And since this is not a mechanically added features, but intensity and density varies naturally thru the hide, it will vary throughout the strap as well between straps.
But it is also thinner than cowhides I use, and suits acoustic (tested on my Martin), but I don't recommend for solid body/electic/bass.
And the slot/adjustment strap weave design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
There are 2 length options in stock for the 2 1/2" wide version, and adjusts by the inch (customization is always an option, though):
STANDARD is total is about 47" to 58"
SHORTER is total of about 43 to 54"
(sorry, with the current side I have, I wasn't able to add the Longer length).
And "TRAVELER" option 2" wide and is about 43-54" long to suit smaller instruments or players.
(My inventory is very limited right now due to had low yield from this first hide due to tannery defects/bug bits/holes in the hide).
My standard sizing for the peg holes is the FRONT peg hole is punched at 5/16", and REAR peg hole is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. These sizes are based on Taylor & Martin acoustic guitars, so if you have a specific peg size or strap locks you need to fit, please let me know and I can make a strap to suit the size you need.
Personalization/custom artwork is an option by either silk screening or laser etching, but please convo me first with your idea and I can quote you the price to add (min $15 for laser etching or silk screen) and create a custom listing for you.
I soften the cut edges with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.
The main strap tapers slightly at either end, and the "Traveler" only tapers at the front, and the slot end corners are radiused on all.
I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", with about 18" to the peg hole, so the overall length can be adjusted from about 47" to 58" between the peg holes for STANDARD, and 43" to 54" for SHORTER length with eleven 1" wide slots punched in for the adjustment strap to weave through to set your size.
But since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length, width, or spacing to get the fit that works for you--pending leather availability on-hand. Or you can add more peg holes in this back strap for finer adjustment as you wear it in.
This is also laser etched a few inches above the front peg hole and on the adjustment strap with my new brand logo, Acoustic Needle.
I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
